A native of China, Bifei Cao graduated with BA degree from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and received his MA degree at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, before receiving an MFA in jewelry and metals program at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania under Lynda LaRoche. He researched at the Jewellery Department of Gerrit Rietveld Academie as exchange student in 2015. He is currently both doing PhD research with topic on Building Contemporary Personal Narrative through Interpretation of Traditional Chinese Visual Culture, and working as sessional lecturer at the Gold and Silversmith workshop in the School of Art, the Australian National University at Australia.

His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including four solo exhibitions at Pennsylvania, New Jersey of the United States, and Australia; group exhibitions include China, the States, UK, Australia, Spain, Netherlands, Italy and Lithuania. His public lecture includes both nationally and internationally, including the Escola Massana in Barcelona, Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School & Academy in Florence, California College of Art in Oakland and most prestigious jewelry and metals program of Chinese universities, such as Fine Art College of Shanghai University, China Academy of Art, Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.

His work has been included in few jewelry researching books with international reputation, such as Art Jewelry Today 3, Showcase 500 Rings and Humor in Craft and Chinese jewelry textbook Jewelry Design. Public collections of his work include The Kamm Foundation- the Fuller Craft Museum and St. Louis University from the United States; priate collections are from all of the international world.
